Decorah announces bond issue of $1,650

EIGHTY YEARS AGO: The Decorah City Council is advertising the notice of a $1,650 bond issue for the city of Decorah. The bonds will pay for the new sewer extension in West Decorah.
...A Civil War veteran has passed away in Highlandville. Knudt Grindeland's funeral services were attended by many members of the American Legion of Quandahl and those of the Spring Grove area. William Linnevold, Decorah postmaster, and noted bugler, blew taps at the service.
...There has been a reported case of the dreaded "sleeping sickness" over at Elkader. The boy is age 13 and has been sleeping for 40 days.
...Following the trail of the stork from 1933: A girl was born Feb. 11 to Mr. and Mrs. Ole Thompson of Decorah. A girl was born Feb. 22 to Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Telford of Decorah.
...A metal box taken from the E.L. Holt home about two weeks ago has been discovered along the highway. Robert, the 8-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Erickson, found it while he and some companions were playing "Indian" on the West Side. The box was located near a stump. All of the money in the box was missing; but the milk tickets and other papers, along with a driver's license, were recovered.
...Gerald Dahly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dahly of Decorah, and a 1932 graduate of Decorah High, has passed the mental and physical exam for service in the U.S. Navy.
