The Decorah High School chapter of National Honor Society will induct 42 new members Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m.
The induction ceremony will take place in the high school auditorium and a reception will follow in the cafeteria.
The ceremony will feature speeches by current members Faith Vilardo, Jacob Stock, Alison Schwartzoff, Kelly Minear, Lukas Phillips and Rebecca Alcock and musical performances by ensembles from Concert Choir, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.
For a new member to be inducted into National Honor Society, he or he must maintain a 3.5 grade point average and be chosen by a committee of faculty based on a submitted easy demonstrating leadership, scholarship, character and service.
National Honor Society is active in both the school and community, performing numerous annual service projects and fundraisers. Past projects have included blood drives, tutoring services, ice cream and hot chocolate socials and intramural sport tournaments aimed at raising funds for various charities. National Honor Society activities are supervised by Nicole Cody and Sarah Casterton.
