The city of Decorah is announcing the second annual recycling event specifically for electronics and appliances later this month.

In an effort to promote consumer appliance recycling, the city is providing a weekend when all area residents may purchase a sticker that will enable them to drop off major household electronics and appliances such as televisions, refrigerators and ovens.

The drop off site will be the lower Oneota Coop parking lot at the corner of Heivly Street and River Street. City crews will be available to assist with unloading.

Stickers must be placed on the appliance or item and may be purchased between now and Friday, Jan. 24, at City Hall or the days of the event on site. The stickers cost $10 for all appliances.

Televisions and computer monitors are $20. Computers and peripheral electronics are free. The two-day event will take place 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 25, and 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26. This event is open to all residents whether city or county.

Additional questions may be directed to City Hall or to City Manager Chad Bird, 563-382-3651.
