The city of Decorah is holding a special recycling event specifically for electronics and appliances later this weekend.

In an effort to promote consumer appliance recycling, the city is providing a weekend during which all area residents may purchase a sticker that will enable them to drop off major household electronics and appliances such as televisions, refrigerators and ovens.

The drop off site will be the lower Oneota Coop parking lot at the corner of Heivly and River streets. City crews will be available to assist with unloading.

Stickers must be placed on the appliance or item and may be purchased between now and Friday, Jan. 25, at Decorah City Hall or on site the days of the event. The stickers cost $10 for all appliances, televisions and electronics. Computer CPUs and accessories may be bundled.

The two-day event is Saturday, Jan. 26, 9 a.m.-noon and Sunday, Jan. 27, 2-4 p.m. This event is open to all residents of the city and Winneshiek County. For more information, contact City Manager Chad Bird at 563-382-3651.
