The Gundersen Lutheran announces the addition of physicians assistant, Andrea Wilson, PA-C, to its staff.
Wilson joins orthopaedic surgeon Tyler Beckley, MD, in caring for patients with lower and upper extremity injuries and concerns.
"My husband grew up in Decorah, and over the years when we would come back to visit the area, we agreed that Decorah has a lot to offer and a wonderful place to raise a family," said Wilson, who grew up in Iowa City.
"I was fortunate to discover that Gundersen Lutheran was looking for an orthopaedic provider in the area, allowing me to continue working in the area of medicine I love."
Wilson received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Iowa State University, Ames. She then earned her Masters of Art degree in teaching from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, before receiving her Masters of Science degree in physician assistant studies from Rosalind Franklin University/The Chicago Medical School, North Chicago, Ill.
Having a special medical interest in sport medicine, Wilson spent the last 10 years at the University of Iowa assisting in the care of student athletes and covering the Hawkeyes women's soccer team.
With the addition of Wilson to the orthopaedic team at Gundersen Lutheran - Decorah Clinic, patients in the Decorah area now have full-time access to orthopaedic care at Gundersen Lutheran.
"It is not always easy for someone with an orthopaedic injury to travel any distance for care. By providing orthopaedic care fulltime in Decorah, we hope to make it more convenient for patients to receive the care they need," explained Wilson
In her free time, Wilson enjoys participating in a wide variety of sports activities, particularly with her kids, including running, biking and other outdoor activities.
