The North Winneshiek School Board is proposing an increase in the District's property tax rate.
The rate is currently $14.77, and the rate proposed for the upcoming fiscal year is $15.10. North Winneshiek Superintendent Tim Dugger said the rate ultimately depends on what the state Legislature allocates for school funding. The final rate will be adjusted when that decision is made. The tax rate would not be higher than $15,10, but could possibly decrease.
During its meeting last week, the North Winn Board scheduled a public hearing on the fiscal year 2014 budget for Monday, April 8, at 4:30 p.m. in the North Winneshiek Library.
The Board also approved the 2013-2014 school calendar. The first day of in-service will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, and students will start Tuesday, Aug. 20.
In other matters, the Board approved a guidance counselor sharing agreement with the Allamakee School District. North Winneshiek will purchase 40 days of guidance for the 2013-2014 school year.
The Board also approved a teacher librarian sharing agreement with the MFL Mar-Mac School District. For the 2013-2014 school year, North Winneshiek will purchase one day per month for consulting services.
