Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill is the featured speaker at the 12th annual Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce ag appreciation Luncheon, Wednesday, March 20, at the Danan Lansing Building on the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds. Serving begins at 11:30 a.m., with the program beginning at noon.
The luncheon celebrates the partnerships between the DACC, local business and the agricultural community and is sponsored by the DACC ag committee.
This year's menu features local favorite pork chops on stick prepared by U-2 Catering paired with organic potatoes from Glen Elsbernd.
The luncheon recognizes two "Friend in Agriculture" awards: one to a business and one to an individual. The "Friend in Ag" awards go to an individual or business whose efforts have created a positive impact to agriculture in Winneshiek County.
This year the DACC ag committee is proud to announce Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Hill as the featured speaker at the luncheon. Hill was elected to the presidency in 2011 after serving as Vice President since 2001. He will speak on the general state of Iowa's ag economy.
"This is a great opportunity to connect locally with someone working at the state level," said Kristina Wiltgen, DACC director of operations.
The event will also feature the annual ag scholarship recipients. These $350 scholarships assist one local high school senior and one NICC college student with plans to further their education in agriculture-related fields.
Tickets for the Ag Luncheon are available at the DACC, through Ag Committee members or online at www.decorahareachamber.com. Tickets are $8 each or $55 for a table of eight. Advance tickets are encouraged, as food is limited.
