A new track and football field at South Winneshiek School are on schedule.

At last week's meeting of the South Winneshiek School Board, Superintendent Chris Hoover said the drainage system should be finished by the end of this week.

The sidewalk around the track and the asphalt will be installed before the finished surface will be sprayed onto the asphalt.

The project is expected to be finished by mid-August.

In other matters, the Board approved the appointments of Calsey Schwamman as assistant softball coach and Michael Wenthold as assistant baseball coach.

Resignations from the District included Joe McCasland, bus driver; Jeannie Krambeer, middle school language arts; Pat Heying, kitchen staff; Carol Bergan, elementary teacher; Ana Olson-Johnson, middle school play. The Board also approved a year leave of absence for Heather Englehardt.

In other matters, the Board viewed a demonstration on the District's new SMART Music program, approved Hacker & Nelson as the audit firm for this year, approved Winneshiek Medical Center for athletic training services and a contract with the University of Northern Iowa for student teacher.

Superintendent Chris Hoover recognized the Board in honor of Board Appreciation Month and thanked them for their service and support.
