Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center (NEIPJC)will host a community conversation on guns and public safety, Tuesday, Feb. 12 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Decorah City Hall.

The conversation will begin with a brief presentation on current gun laws and safety perspectives from Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon and Winneshiek County Sheriff Leon B

The conversation will focus on the role of guns in our society.

"In response to the most recent tragedy in Newtown, Conn., the Peace and Justice Center is providing a space for our community to gather around this issue. We are seeking ways to reduce the number of these tragedies while respecting citizens' constitutional rights," said Jennifer Self, NEIPJC volunteer.

Attendees will be invited to share their thoughts on this issue in an open, civil forum moderated by Matt Tapscott, NEIPJC volunteer.

All perspectives are welcome.
