Winneshiek County officials are asking that persons who sustained water or storm damage to personal property last weekend contact the Emergency Management office at 563-382-7983.

Callers should leave their name, phone number and what was damaged.

The city of Decorah water department says there is no need for water conservation at this time, but offer a reminder that due to ground saturation, it would take a minimal amount of rain to again tax the sewer system.

It is important to follow recommendations regarding safety that includes staying off the river, obeying road closures and barricades. Emergency responders may be involved in other duties but will only attempt rescue keeping their own safety a priority.

"Please do not take unnecessary risks for personal property," said Nancy Sacquitne, RN, BSN.

Sacquitne encourages the public to monitor local media outlets and check with Winneshiek County Public health of the city of Decorah's Facebook page for any possible changes or updates regarding local weather and river situations.
