The Upper Iowa River in Decorah is expected to crest later this evening. The National Weather Service in LaCrosse is predicting a drier evening and night. Emergency officials will continue to monitor the situation over the next 3-4 days especially if more rain is in the forecast.
The volunteers from the Decorah Fire Department and sandbags will be available at Centrum Mall (old Walmart parking lot) in Decorah near True Value till 5 p.m. Sunday evening. These sandbags are for use to cover drains in basements if needed to avoid back-up. 2 or 3 sandbags per private household will be allowed. You will need to sign in with a representative to receive your sandbags. You will need your own shovel and will be bagging your own. Reminder these sandbags are for private households only.
Please take precautions as you travel as there are some roads and bridges within the county that are impassable or damaged. If barricades are in place, obey them. Protect yourself and do not put yourself or others in harm's way.
