Joshua Anderson, 23, Decorah, also was charged with third-offense operating while intoxicated and criminal mischief (Class D felonies), carrying weapons (an aggravated misdemeanor) and having no insurance.
According to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department, the Waukon Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gray Ford passenger car Anderson was driving with Minnesota license plates of PUT255 around midnight Sunday. Anderson fled from marked Waukon Police cars and also marked Allamakee County Sheriff's patrol cars with lights and sirens activated.
Anderson's vehicle entered Winneshiek County and continued westbound on Quandahl Road. He then struck a Winneshiek County patrol car with his vehicle and continued north on Highlandville Road before going into the ditch. Anderson was arrested and taken to the Winneshiek County Jail.
The Waukon Police Department and Allamakee County Sheriff's Department are expected to file additional charges in their respective jurisdictions. No one was injured during the vehicle chase. The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department was assisted by the Waukon Police Department, Allamakee County Sheriff's Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
