Turkey Valley voters have approved the renewal of the District's Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL).
The unofficial vote total was 94 "yes" votes and 17 "no" votes. The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors was scheduled to canvas election results Monday, Sept 17.
"This is extremely good news," said Turkey Valley Superintendent Chris Hoover.
"Turkey Valley will be able to keep up on transportation, building and technology needs for years to come. I would like to thank the Turkey Valley School District and community for their continued support of the education of our students."
The special election was Tuesday.
A simple majority is required for the measure to pass. No increase was proposed and the rate will remain at 67 cents per $1,000 of taxable value.
"The PPEL monies are extremely important to the District because it takes some stress off of the District's general fund. We are able to buy vehicles, computers, etcetera without using our general fund," he said.
