MARVIN SOUKUP SR., 85, of rural Spillville, died suddenly Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Spillville, with Rev. Donald Hawes presiding. Burial is in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation is from 3-7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the Balik Funeral Home in Spillville. A rosary is at 4 and a scripture service is at 7. Visitation also is from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Survivors are his wife, Marcella Soukup, Spillville; three daughters: Connie Arens, Cedar Rapids, Joni (John) Kubesh, Peosta and Janice (Russ) Turner, Oelwein; three sons: Marvin Jr. (Mary) Soukup, Calmar, Dale (Deb) Soukup, Marion and Douglas (Betty) Soukup, Calmar; one brother, James Soukup, Decorah; and one brother-in-law, Bernard (Lois) Phillips, Calmar.
