PALMER RUFFRIDGE, 87, of Decorah, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah. Memorial services are at 2 p.m., Monday, April 15, at the Decorah Lutheran Church, 309 Winnebago Street, Decorah, with Rev. David Sorenson presiding. Burial is in the Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Helof Holm VFW Chapter No. 1977 of Decorah. Friends may call after 1 p.m., at the church Monday afternoon. The Schluter - Balik Funeral Home in Decorah is in charge of arrangements. Palmer is survived by his wife, Arla Ruffridge, Decorah; three sons: Dennis (Pat) Ruffridge, Cresco; Dean (Pam) Ruffridge, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; and Paul (Michelle) Ruffridge, Clearwater Beach, Fla.; grandchildren: Erik (Stephanie) Ruffridge, Janna (Ryan) Leighty, Jon (Caroline) Ruffridge, Amy (Eric) Lensing, Tara (Dan) Stoddard, Adam (LeNae) Schwickerath, Nathan (Jami) Schwickerath and Amanda (Brad) Trask; great-grandchildren: Max, Jylin, Gybson, Carson, Molly, Aubrey, Lauren, Alexa, Ashlyn, Aidan, Kyra, Tate, Marley, Daniel, Kendall and Cali; two sisters, Fern Dungey, New Hampton; and Virginia (Eldon) Nelson, Portage, Wis. Palmer was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cora (Barth) Ruffridge; four brothers: Norman (Naomi) Ruffridge, Orville (Dottie) Ruffridge, Curtis (Dorothy) Ruffridge, Gordon Ruffridge; and one sister, Harriett (George) Brom.
