Dear Editor:

Ruminating after the fact, as cattle do, it seems to me that because we have given college students the right to vote in a place where they lives as students and because they tend to vote a "straight ticket," be it Republican or Democrat, and because they know little or nothing about the county they reside in so temporarily, candidates for county offices do not receive a knowledgeable vote.

Therefore, it seems important that candidates for county offices should not run as candidates of a particular political party but as independent candidates to be judged on the merits of how each candidate is known locally.
