A group of Decorah citizens hoping to form a Decorah telecommunications utility is moving forward with scheduling a feasibility study.
At Monday’s meeting, group representative Jarrad Walter told the Council his group sent out requests for proposal on the project Jan. 4.
“We have received comments and questions from 30 vendors and have received proposals from nine of them,” he said.
Walter said his group is reviewing the proposals and plans to coordinate with City Manager Chad Bird to hold some formal interviews with a few of the vendors.
“Our goal is to come back to you April 3 with recommendations and ask that you enter into a contract (with the chosen vendor),” said Walter.
Walter said his group is looking forward to getting started with the study and is trying to work within its budget of around $100,000.
The current deadline for the study has been extended to July 31.
