Lawn Chair Night, the popular long-standing music series in Decorah, welcomes Mark Armstrong Thursday, June 9, from 7 to 8 p.m., in front of the Winneshiek County courthouse. Rain location is under the Decorah Public Library.
Armstrong is a published poet and author, interweaving his storytelling with original songs. He has worn many hats in his life and has a wealth of experiences from which to draw for his material, and says his songwriting has been influenced by the styles of Gordon Lightfoot and Greg Brown.
He plays at farmers’ markets and open mic events as well as hospice.
Born and raised in Eastern Iowa, Armstrong moved to rural Waukon in 2012, where he lives with his wife and their pets.
In the spring of 2016 Armstrong helped to start a ukulele group in Decorah.
“If the stars align, they may be persuaded to play a few songs as well,” he says.
