Solid in 2016
With a large freshman class, core seniors and plenty of athletes to choose from, the Warriors looked to have a solid squad in 2016.
The Warriors battled through the regular season, dealing with nasty spring weather and trying to find the right athletes for their best roles.
At the Upper Iowa Conference meet, the Warriors finished third in team standings, behind champion North Fayette Valley and runner-up Central. Three events won conference gold – Josie Kriener in the 1,500-meter run, Amber Brincks in the high jump and the distance medley relay of Ellie Loesch, Brincks, Felicity Taylor and J. Kriener.
Moving to the state qualifying meet, the Warriors finished sixth overall, qualifying in six events to the state meet.
Competing on the Blue Oval, the Warriors secured five points, led by the 4x800 of Taylor, RaeAnn Klimesh, Ashley Kriener and J. Kriener earning fifth in 9:48.43. Also competing were J. Kriener, eighth in the 1,500-meter; Taylor, 12th in the 1,500; Becca Hertges, 11th in the shot put; Loesch, 17th in the 100-meter dash; distance medley relay of Loesch, Brincks, Taylor, J. Kriener, ninth.
Graduating at the end of the season were RaeAnn Klimesh, Becca Hertges, Riley Ott and Jenna Elsbernd.
