Vikes earn high marks in split

Seeing some different competition, the Decorah girls track team split to start the week, with the “varsity” at Maquoketa Valley Monday and the “JV” at Crestwood Tuesday.

Monday night, the Vikes took second at the Wildcat Invite, earning 120 points. Cascade eeked out a six-point win (126).
The Vikes picked up three victories. Katie Nimrod garnered the 400-meter run championship. She had a time of 1:00.56. She came back to win the 400 hurdles in 1:04.87.
The sprint medley relay also took first with a time of 1:50.68.
Taking second were Kayla Quandahl in the 200 meter dash in 27.38 seconds; Kylie Kerndt in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.62 seconds; the 4x100 in 51.92; the 4x200 in 1:50.45; the 4x400 in 4:11.88; the 4x800 in 10:12.98; and the shuttle hurdle relay in 1:09.32.
In the throws, Lydia Kleckner was third in the shot put with a best of 35 feet, 2 inches, while McKinley Lillegraven was third in the discus with a throw of 95 feet, 6 inches.
