In one of the largest invites of the year, the South Winn girls track team traveled to Hudson Monday night for the Pirate Relays.
Benton-Van Horne was the team champion, posting 74 points. Aplington-Parkersburg took a very close second with 72 points. South Winn garnered 48 points, good for seventh out of 19 squads.
The lone gold medal came from the 4x800 relay, which posted a time of 10:11.45. The quartet won by 12 seconds over Aplington-Parkersburg.
Ellie Loesch was one of the fastest on the track. The sophomore took second in the 100-meter dash in 12.88 seconds. Felicity Taylor came through in the 800-meter run in 2:26.95, good for second. Josie Kriener posted a time of 5:05.77 in the 1,500-meter run, taking the silver.
Loesch garnered the bronze in the 200, stopping the clock in 27.21 seconds.
