The Luther football team (2-2, 1-0 IIAC) rolled to a 41-7 homecoming victory over Loras College (1-3, 0-1 IIAC) in front a packed Carlson Stadium.
The Norse dominated every aspect of the game, while scoring over 40 points for the first time since the second week of the 2009 season.
Defensively, Luther held Loras to 112 yards of total offense which included 45 yards on the ground. The Norse also recorded five sacks and blocked a Duhawk punt in the end zone that Matt Scheidle recovered for a touchdown.
Matt Larson led the defensive unit with 10 tackles. He was followed by Aric Elton, who was credited with nine. Dan Wheelock, Cody Berger and Alex Peterson all had six. Wheelock and Eric Ostlie were both credited with 1.5 sacks.
Offensively, the ground attack racked up 356 yards on 67 carries and four touchdowns. Josh Vos was the work horse, carrying the ball 21 times for 135 yards and three scores. Vos reached the end zone on runs of 7, 39 and 24 yards. Tim Ostby and Christian Moore rushed for 69 and 60 yards respectively, both career highs. Moore scored the final touchdown of the game on a 20-yard scamper with 30 seconds left on the clock.
Saturday, Oct. 12, the Norse travel to University of Dubuque for a conference clash that is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
