Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Luther women's basketball team will host the annual Play for Kay (formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone) game, hosting Coe at 6 p.m.

The Luther women's basketball team is asking all fans to wear pink to the game to show support for all women who are or have battled breast cancer. Volunteers from the Decorah community will be handing out pink ribbons and offering spectators an opportunity to donate money. T-shirts will also be available for sale in the concession stand. All funds raised will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

College and high school teams across the nation have selected one game on their schedules to honor Kay Yow, former North Carolina State University head women's basketball coach, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987, and passed away Jan. 24, 2009, after facing her third bout with the disease.

Since its inception in 2007, the Play 4Kay initiative has raised over $2 million to support women's cancer research. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative.
