Two Luther athletes were named athletes of the week by the Iowa Athletic Conference.
Jacob Sund was named the men's swimming and diving athlete while Zoe Johnson was named the women's swimming and diving athlete of the week.
Sund, a freshman from Cedar Falls, figured into a total of five top-3 finishes at the Luther Invitational. He won the 50 breaststroke (28.60) and placed third in both the 100 breaststroke (1:04.49) and 100 individual medley (57.74). Sund also swam on Luther's winning 200 medley relay (1:40.62) and runner-up 200 freestyle relay (1:30.92). Sund is the son of David and Penny Sund.
Johnson, a sophomore from Minnetrista, Minn., won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions at the Luther Invitational. Her score of 417.30 on the 1-meter was a qualifying score for the NCAA Division III regional diving championships and pool record. Johnson's score of 406.75 on the 3-meter also set a pool record and fell just 3.25 points shy of the NCAA regional qualifying standard of 410. Johnson was the daughter of Steve and Chris Johnson.
