In a win and move on, or lose and go home situation Monday night in the first round of the Class 1A boys basketball playoffs, the Turkey Valley boys basketball team thrived, defeating Valley 42-40 in Elgin.

The Tigers end the season 6-15 while Turkey Valley improves to 3-17. Standing in the Trojans' way of another victory is Postville. The Trojans battle the Pirates (10-11) tonight, Thursday, Feb. 14, in Postville, beginning at 7 p.m.

"We were really happy with the kids' effort tonight for four quarters, and we thought they did an excellent job on the defensive end," said Coach Chris Sullivan. "Anytime you beat a team twice on their home court is a great accomplishment."
