It's going to be a year of fun for Decorah boys tennis coach Reg Laursen.

Laursen has eight players already vying for a varsity spot and a solid group of netters looking to push for their chance to compete.
In six years with the Vikes, Laursen has posted a 30-26 career dual record.
Last year was a good year for the Vikings, highlighted by the solid play of a large freshman class. They were led by their three returning letter winners - senior Kai Brown, junior Lucas Hunter and sophomore T.J. Misseldine.
The Vikes showed improvement throughout the season, with several players stepping up. During the dual portion of the schedule, the Vikes went 6-5. At the district individual meet, the doubles pair of Brown and Hunter went undefeated to move on to the state competition. Freshman Ryan Hageman just missed advancing in singles competition.
In the substate round, the Vikings fell to a tough NU High team 5-2.
On the big stage, the pair picked up a big win before falling to the consolation bracket. The season ended one match later.
