In just its second meet of the year, the Decorah boys swim team competed at the Marcussen Invite in Cedar Falls Saturday.

Decorah finished the day with 207 points. Dowling Catholic from West Des Moines won the meet with 566 points.

The Vikes had several events that fared well on the day.

Individually, Mac Faldet had the best finish of the day. The sophomore took fourth at the 100-yard freestyle in 54.85 seconds, earning his team 15 points.

Two relays finished sixth overall. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Cole Svestka, Nolan Heffern, Faldet and Dalton Matt combined to touch the wall in 1:38.09. They were less than seven seconds from first place.

Also in sixth was the 400-yard freestyle relay. Heffern, Jerod Heying, Matt and Faldet finished in 3:44.17.

Home meet Friday

The Vikes are at Waterloo Central against Waterloo East and Cedar Rapids Kennedy Thursday, Dec. 13, at 6 p.m. The only home meet of the year is Friday, Dec. 14, against Vinton-Shellsburg and Waterloo East, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Luther pool.
