For the final meet before the UIC meet, the South Winn and Turkey Valley boys and girls cross country teams competed at the North-Linn Invite Saturday morning.
In the girls race, Mount Pleasant claimed first with 101 points. For the boys, Monticello won with 36 points.
In the top-10
The South Winn girls team, ranked No. 6 in Class 1A, finished seventh overall with 180 points. Kennidee DeVilbiss paced the way for the Warriors, taking 22nd in team scoring in 15:47. Monica Schwartzhoff and Jessica Lechtenberg weren't far behind. Schwartzhoff took 28th in 15:51 while Lechtenberg was 31st in 15:54. Freshman Josie Kriener clocked in at 16:06, good for 37th. Kelly Kuboushek completed the team scoring. She finished 62nd in 16:37. Caitlin Holien and Alexis Patterson also competed for the varsity. Holien was 86th in 17:16 while Patterson was 87th in 17:18.
The boys, ranked No. 12 in Class 1A, finished 11th in team standings with 248 points, just four points behind Turkey Valley.
Nathan Meyer and Devin Franzen finished back-to-back. Meyer, ranked No. 23, finished 17th in 17:34. Franzen, who is ranked No. 28, took 18th in 17:34. Danon Hageman had a good day for the Warriors. He finished 68th in 18:47. Right on his heels were Alex Upton and Brian Kleppe. Upton was 72nd in 18:57 while Kleppe crossed the finish line in 18:58, taking 73rd. Also running varsity was Kevin Davis, who finished 95th in 19:42.
