With two games in two days, the Decorah girls soccer team (2-3) came up short Monday and Tuesday, dropping both.

On the road

It took overtime to determine a winner Monday in Denver, with the Cyclones winning 2-1.

"On paper, the game was very evenly matched. Denver had 19 shots, Decorah had 20," said Coach Julie Shockey. "The rain held off until the boys game, the field was decent on one end and a sloppy mess on the other. This made the transition for both teams from offense to defense and vice versa extremely difficult. The ball bounced, rolled and played differently on either end of the field."

Denver scored first, taking a 1-0 lead into halftime. In the second, the Vikes finally got on the board at 66:50, with Shelby Stalberger throwing it in to Abby Arend, who banked it in.
