Four Decorah High School seniors have been selected for the 2013 academic all-state track and field team.

Shelby Varney, Shana Kelly, Patrick Larson and Jacob Drost were four of the 60 student-athletes statewide to receive this honor from the Iowa Association of Track Coaches.

In order to receive this honor, members of the track team must be a senior, have at least a 3.8 cumulative grade point average, score at 28 or higher on the ACT exam and be a state track meet participant in at least one event during the season.

This is the second set of academic all-state honors received by all four student-athletes. Varney, Kelly and Larson all earned academic all-state honors from the IATC for cross country while Drost earned academic all-state basketball honors from the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.

Varney is the daughter of Rick and Jamey Varney. Kelly is the daughter of Mike and Lori Kelly. Larson is the son of Rob and Sandy Larson. Drost is the son of Scott and Veronica Drost.
