Things are clicking for the Decorah baseball team (13-8, 7-5 NEIC) as the Vikings won four games this week to move into a tie for second in the Northeast Iowa Conference standings.

Wednesday the Vikings needed just five innings to dispose of Crestwood (9-11, 5-7 NECI) 13-3.
Decorah put up eight runs in the second inning, highlighted by an Austin Ashbacher grand slam. The Vikes added three runs in the third and ended the contest early with two in the fifth.
Decorah pounded 15 hits. Dustin Cary had three hits and scored two runs. Bryton Meyer posted three singles and drove in three runs. Jake Hovden and Collin Nimrod both had two hits.
Kyle Kane went all five innings on the mound, giving up three hits and striking out four.
“This was a really good game on our part offensively. Everbody in our starting line-up had one or more hits, and eight of those nine in the starting line-up scored a run,” said Coach Dennis Olejniczak. “The second inning was really something to behold when we sent 14 batters to the plate and had nine hits in that inning to produce eight runs.”
