With six returning letter winners and eight new members to the team, the Vikings will need to find someone to step up and take over the leadership provided by last year's senior class, which featured two four-year letter winners.
In charge of the team is Scott Pierce, who is entering his sixth season with the Vikes.
Big meet talent
The 2012 Vikes featured seven members, three of which with returning talent. They improved throughout the season, with several members getting varsity experience. At the Northeast Iowa Conference Meet, the Vikes, ranked No. 11 in Class 3A at the time, took the silver medal with 374 strokes. Three members earned all-NEIC honors by finishing in the top 15.
At the district meet, the Vikes took fifth overall. Senior Molly McDonough continued her season by taking second with an 82.
A week leader, McDonough punched her ticket to the state tournament by taking fifth at the regional meet with an 86.
It was a memorable end to a high school career for McDonough as she took 10th overall at state, firing a 165 over the two-day tournament.
