It was back to work Monday for the Class 3A No. 2 Decorah boys golf team as the Vikes hosted Cresco at Oneota Golf and Country Club, winning 152 to 180.

Coach Rich Gaard said the team fired one of its best rounds of the year in the win.

Medalist honors went to Class 3A No. 8-ranked Michael Peter, who carded a one-under par 35 on the par-36 course. Three Decorah linksters shared the runner-up honors. No. 16 Bryce Pierce, Tyler Hovey and No. 28 Peter Kephart all shot 39s.

Other scores for the varsity were No. 22 Sam Sacquitne, carving out a 41, with No. 29 Eric Fulsaas finishing with a 42.

"I was happy to see our team come out with great rounds and balanced scoring," said Gaard. "This was great preparation leading up to the sectional and conference tourneys later this week."
