Monday the Decorah and Turkey Valley boys track teams competed at MFL.
Several meet records were set by the two teams.
In the varsity meet, Decorah's Jacob Drost was the champion in the 200-meter dash. The senior posted a time of 22.97 seconds, beating the previous best of 23.04 seconds set in 2006. In the 400-meter dash, Decorah's Cole Svestka took the title in 51.24 seconds, besting the previous time of 51.49 set in 2006.
Four events in the JV meet set a meet record. For Decorah, the 4x100 of Keegan Blackburn, Dylan Henning, Garret Wise and Drake Bauer set the mark with a time of 47.77 seconds. The previous best was 48.58 seconds set in 2009 by Clayton Ridge. Ben Blackburn, Collin Nimrod, Eric Syverson and Forde Nesteby set the mark of 3:48.81 in the 4x400. The previous best was set by Ed-Co in 2009 with a time of 3:55.14. Breaking the tape in the 4x800 was Bryce Hosting, E. Syverson, Parker Fretheim and Jacob Stock with a time of 9:18.44. The old time was 10:13.10, set in 2012 by Decorah.
Turkey Valley and Decorah both broke the old meet record in the 4x100 weight men race, previously held by Decorah with a time of 51.11 seconds. Trojans Charles Hadacek, Luke Kuennen, Kyle Reicks and Nic Schaufenbuel took first in 50.58 while Decorah's Easton Schmitz, Tim Winter, Nick Gossling and Matthew Whittle were third in 50.90 seconds.
