With two games to start the week, the Turkey Valley boys basketball team (6-7, 4-7 UIC) picked up one conference win.
A big first quarter helped the Trojans pull away Monday, winning 69-44 at Edgewood-Colesburg (0-11, 0-7 UIC).
The Trojans got hot from behind the arc, posting 36 points in the first eight minutes to lead 36-6. The Vikings cut into the lead, but it remained in double figures, 49-23. The Trojan defense gave up just four points in the third quarter.
"We played very well in the first quarter and thought the kids did a nice job of making the extra pass and finding the open player. By us knocking down the outside shot early, it opened up things in the paint for us," said Coach Chris Sullivan.
