Running against the best, No. 1 Vikes show strength

With lots of fresh competition, the No. 1-ranked Decorah boys and girls cross country teams traveled past the border to compete at the University of Minnesota in the Roy Griak Invite Saturday.

The meet featured teams from all over the Midwest.
One minute split
The girls team finished 24th in a tough field of 44. Naperville North won the meet with 151 poins. Decorah had 636.
The Vikes averaged 21:35 and had a range of 1:11.
The top finisher was Maria Hauger of Shakopee, finishing in 17:50.0
Of note, Waverly-Shell Rock's Anna Holdiman was fourth.
Class 3A No. 14 Brinn Anderson had the best time for Decorah. She was 97th in 21:04.8, with an average mile time of 6:46. Sophomore Gara Lonning, who entered the rankings this week at No. 27, was 108th in 21:15.5. She had a 6:51 average.
