A 70-point first half sparked the Class 1A No. 10 South Winn football team (6-2, 4-1 district) to a 76-0 victory over MFL (1-7, 0-6 district) Friday night in Monona.
With the win, South Winn is guaranteed a home game in the playoffs. The Warriors hold the No. 2 seed in the district and hold all the tie breakers to keep that No. 2 seed regardless of outcome of Friday's game with Jesup.
In total, the Warriors had 11 touchdowns scored by eight players. They put up 32 points in the first quarter and 38 in the second. On the final four touchdowns they didn't attempt the extra point.
Christian Kleve, Jordan Rommes and Jared Schroeder all scored twice while Alex Shatek, Treyton Jacobsen, Ryan Hageman, Mitch Herold and Logan Schweienefus put up one score. Shatek had a 28-yard interception return in the first quarter while Herold returned a pick 32 yards in the second quarter.
The only downside of the night was an injury to starting quarterback Garrett Bohach. Bohach broke his non-throwing arm in the first quarter.
