It was a good home opener for the Decorah boys golf team Monday as the Vikings hosted New Hampton at Oneota.

It was a happy day as the Class 3A No. 5 Vikings knocked off the Chickasaws 153 to 181.

Medalist of the meet was Sam Sacquitne, who had a par-36. Runner-up honors went to Peter Kephart, Michael Peter and Tyler Hovey, who all had 39s.

Other varsity scores were Bryce Pierce, 43, and Eric Fulsaas, 41.

"We were pleased to shoot 153 as a team score, with four scores in the 30s," commented Head Coach Rich Gaard.

The JV boys also came out with a victory, winning 174 to 224. Medalist of the JV meet was Reese Drenth, who carded a 42. Other scores were Derek Weis, 43; Matt Schissel, 44; Tyler Barth, 45; Joe Knoke, 45; and Conner Gossman, 48.



The Vikings will host the Viking Invite Thursday, April 25, at Oneota Golf and Country Club. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
