The South Winn boys basketball team was in it Monday night, fighting for a chance to advance in the Class 2A basketball tournament.

However, the second half saw the win slip away from the Warriors as Clayton Ridge won the game, 78-65.

The Warriors end the season 9-12 overall while Clayton Ridge improves to 18-4 and moves on to face MFL today, Thursday, Feb. 14.

Monday night the Warriors showed toughness in the first half. Both teams scored 14 points in the first eight minutes. At the halftime break, the Warriors held a 29-27 advantage.

Despite the strong first half by the Warriors, things began to slip away in the second. The Warrior offense struggled to hold the Eagles' offense, relinquishing the lead. With eight minutes remaining, the Eagles led 50-45.

Clayton Ridge put it away in the final frame, outscoring South Winn 28-20.
