South Winn girls have key pieces in place in 2013

It will be a veteran group of Warriors who take to the links this season for the South Winn girls golf team.

The Warriors return three all-conference members from a year ago, have six returning letter winners and a host of upper classmen with experience.
New to the squad this year - the co-head coaches. Paul Jungblut, who has served as the boys head coach for the past five years, will be assisted by first-year co-coach Doug Schweinefus. They take over for Sheryl Holien.
Last year's Warriors featured 15 members, many of whom were returning members from 2011. The Warriors grew throughout the season, finishing with a 6-5 record.
At the Upper Iowa Conference meet in May, the Warriors came together to take fourth in the conference with 416 strokes. Valley won the meet with 395 strokes. Three members earned all-conference honors by finishing in the top-15 overall. Megan Elsbernd led the way by taking eighth with 102 strokes. Megan Hageman took 10th with 104 strokes while Caitlin Holien finished 11th with 104 strokes. Rounding out the varsity competitors were Ashley Bushman, 106; Megan Bushman, 119; and Eleanor Lofte, 112.
A week later at the district meet, the Warriors ended the season by taking fourth in team scoring with 412 strokes. Competing for the Warriors were Holien, 101; M. Hageman, 102; A. Bushman, 104; Lofte, 105.
