The Decorah swim team traveled to Cedar Falls to compete at the 34th annual women's Marcussen Invite Saturday.
The Vikes finished the 11-team invite in 10th with 78 points. Wisconsin's Waukesha South won the meet with 544 points.
The Vikes had four events finish in the top-10.
The top place went to sophomore Taylor Martinek in the backstroke. She took fifth in 1:04.43, an improvement over her seed time of 1:04.82. First place went to Waukesha South's Lizzy Baertlein in 58.80 seconds.
Michelle Halse continued her strong diving season. The sophomore collected 286.65 points to earn her team 11 points. First place, Cedar Falls' Hannah Brummel, scored 395 points.
Freshman Katelyn Yee continues to make a splash for the Vikes. In the 50-yard freestyle, she finished ninth in 26.25 seconds. She took over 50 seconds off her seed time of 26.98 seconds. First place, Molly Lembezeder of Dubuque Senior, finished in 24.32 seconds.
One relay finished in the top-10. The 200 freestyle relay quartet of Monica Tappe, Martinek, Kathryn Appler and Yee finished the race in 1:48.75, good for ninth overall. They were just a few seconds from improving on their seed time. First place of Waukesha South finished in 1:39.28.
The Vikes host their only home meet of the year tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Luther pool.
