With just a few matches remaining before the conference wrestling meet, the Turkey Valley wrestling team got some big team wins in a triangular and a dual tournament.
Two UIC wins
Thursday the Trojans traveled to Postville to take on Postville and Sumner-Fredericksburg in a conference triangular.
The Trojans defeated Postville 54-15 and just edged Sumner-Fred 36-32.
Austin Vrzak (106) had two forfeits. John Hageman (132/138) had a forfeit against Postville and pinned James Kime of Sumner-Fred. Eric Buckendal (145) threw Jose Marroquin of Postville in 25 seconds and defeated Bryce Rausch of Sumner-Fred 5-3.
Charles Hadacek (152/160) threw Dominck Schnuelle of Postville in 1:25 and had a forfeit. Dillon Kuennen won 6-5 over Seth Kipp of Sumner-Fred at 195 pounds and received a forfeit at 182 against Postville. Kyle Reicks received a forfeit at 195 against Postville and threw Dustin Gaede of Sumner-Fred at 220.
Ranked No. 7 in Class 1A, Luke Kuennen threw Jacob Roach of Postville in 1:16 at 220 pounds and pinned Gunner Mohs of Sumner-Fred at 285.
