There will be a complete boys cross country team this year for Turkey Valley.
After multiple years of only having individuals compete for the red and white, the Trojans have fielded a squad of 10 harriers ready to leave their mark.
They will be led by Coach Timothy Kruckman, who has 12 years experience.
To begin last season, the Trojans had just four members on the team - Triston Mohlis, Tom Reicks, Austin Vrzak and Nathan Herold. Despite being short of having a full team, the Trojans stayed motivated during the season.
By the time October rolled around, the Trojans had added a few more names to their roster. At the UIC meet, the Trojans took fifth overall, scoring 121 points. They were led by sophomore Ryan Izer, one of the harriers who joined the squad late.
At the state qualifying meet, the Trojans finished fifth overall with 188 points. Izer, who had been with the team for just one month, finished ninth out of 135 runners to advance to his first state competition.
Moving to state at Fort Dodge, Izer toured the course 47th overall out of 131 on the course in a season best 17:35.
