The Turkey Valley wrestling team kicked off the dual season Tuesday, traveling to North Butler to take on the Bearcats, Clarksville and BCLUW.
The Trojans went 1-2 on the night. They defeated North Butler 39-27, lost a close match to BCLUW 37-39 and fell to Clarksville 21-51.
"Overall we wrestled extremely hard. I am pleased with our performance on the first night," said Coach Steven Andrukaitis. "We do have a lot of things we need to iron out and eliminate mistakes, but the season is still very young. I look forward to the direction this team is headed."
Several Trojans had good days on the mat. Senior John Hageman, who is ranked No. 10 in Class 1A, defeated BCLUW's Isaiah Ralston and North Butler's Brady Janssen by falls. At 170, Tyler Sawyer threw Dylan Dietz (North Butler) and Nick Mills (BCLUW).
