Closing out the regular season, the Turkey Valley girls basketball team (4-15, 3-13 UIC) lost the final two games of the conference season.
Thursday the Trojans hosted Sumner-Fred, the top team in the conference. The visiting Cougars proved too tough in all aspects of the game, winning 51-32.
"We had a tough night from the field. Sumner-Fred is a very good team," said Co-Coaches Dan Stepan and Mike Kuennen.
The Trojans took a lead after the first quarter, pulling ahead 10-8. However, in the second period, the Cougars came fighting back, holding the Trojans to just six points to go into the locker room up 25-16. It was a close third period, with the teams combining for just 17 points. At the end of the third, the Cougars led 34-24. Sumner-Fred put it away in the fourth, outscoring TV 17-8.
