Learning to lead
The Vikings of 2012 were a younger team with not much varsity experience. However, the Vikes grew quickly throughout the season. They posted a 7-5-1 record during the regular season. In the first round of the playoffs, the Vikes knocked off Waverly-Shell Rock 3-0 to move on. With Anamosa next on the list, the Vikes came up just short, falling 1-0.
With the loss came the end of high school careers for seven players, including goalkeeper Blaise Schaeffer, Sam Garwood, Jacob Miller and Gabe Eide.
