It was close to begin with, but eventually, the Decorah softball team (12-16) pulled away, defeating South Winn (12-15) 11-1 in six innings Tuesday night in Decorah.
The Warriors got a run across in the top of the first inning. Decorah tied the game in the bottom half of the frame. However, from there, it was all Decorah as the Vikings scored two in the third, five in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth to end the night early.
“We overcame some early errors, but we pushed through and came back with our bats and our pitching,” said Decorah Coach Teri Olson. “I thought Annika did a great job on the mound for us tonight. Offensively, I felt like we attacked in different ways. We were playing small ball as well as hitting for power. We played simple. Got runners on and got them in.”

Looking at the numbers
