Traveling to Oelwein Tuesday night, the Decorah volleyball team (10-17, 3-3) struggled to find the energy it needed against the Huskies, falling 0-3.
The Vikes lost by set scores of 13-25, 11-25, 21-25. Decorah now sits in fourth in the conference standings, behind Oelwein.
"Tough loss for us. We had an opportunity to play ourselves into a third place finish in the conference, but we never found the energy we needed to slow Oelwein down," said Decorah Coach Dale Wilharm.
Decorah had 17 kills, 74 kill attempts, 15 assists, served 40-for-46 with two aces, had 24 digs and made two solo blocks.
Alison Stover and Molly Wettach each made a block. Alexis Hove had eight digs while Lindsay Smith made six. Tori Hartman served 11-for-11 with an ace. Laura Munkel went 9-for-10 at the service line.
Hartman dished out 13 assists. Kaitlyn Kregel led at the net with six kills and 16 attack attempts. Tess Olinger had five kills and 17 attack attempts.
The Vikes are off until Tuesday, Oct. 9, when they go to Prairie du Chien, beginning at 7:15 p.m.
