It was a tough road to travel Saturday for members of the Decorah wrestling team competing at the district meet in Manchester.

However, at the end of the long day, four grapplers stood tall, punching a ticket to the state wrestling tournament.

Juniors Kellan O'Shea and Austin Ashbacher and seniors Hans Holkesvik and Andy Hovden all earned a spot at the state wrestling tournament.

The big dance runs Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 14-16, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Decorah wrestles in Class 2A, which begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. (See page B-3 for the box with the complete schedule).

Mighty four

Four grapplers advanced by finishing second in their weight bracket at the district meet Saturday. Wrestlers needed to finish in the top two in order to advance. Wrestle backs were used if the second and third place wrestlers hadn't competed against each other in the first round, determining the true second place competitor.
