With a spot in the Class 4A semifinals on the line, the first round game between the Decorah girls basketball team and Charles City came down to shooting percentage.

Hitting 42 percent of their shots, the Comets eliminated Decorah Wednesday night in Charles City, winning 60-45.

The Comets improve to 11-10 and faced Clear Lake in the semifinals. Decorah ends the season 7-14.

Decorah had a strong first half. Although the Comets initially went ahead 5-4 in the first, Decorah came back to take the lead. At the end of the first, the Vikes led 13-8. However, that lead was short-lived. Decorah held a 17-12 advantage with five minutes remaining in the half. However, the Comets retook the lead at 18-17 with three minutes remaining. At the half it was 26-21 Comets.
